Axel Void's mural @ The Crystal Ship Edition 2017

The Crystal Ship #9: Axel Void

Before Axel Void started to paint his large scale mural (The Crystal Ship Edition 2017), he interviewed the residents of the apartment building to finally choose a photo of an elderly lady as a source of inspiration. The photo on which he based his work is the moment of parting between the woman and a friend. Not much later the girlfriend died. The painted letters on the mural is the word “LEVEN”. Translated in English: “LIFE”.

Axel Void (Alejandro Hugo Dorda Mevs) was born in Miami in 1986 to a Haitian mother and a Spanish father. He was raised in Spain from the age of three, where he was strongly influenced by classical painting and drawing. Axel Void has been in contact with graffiti writing since 1999. He studied Fine Arts in Cádiz, Granada, and Sevilla, and based himself in Berlin until moving to Miami in 2013, where he currently resides. (source: Axelvoid.com).
