Guarda, Portugal’s highest city at an altitude of over 1000m, is an elegant charming fortress town located 70km east of Viseu and the Spanish border. With its rich history and imposing architecture, this is a city that mainly attracts the history buffs, or nature lovers who use Guarda as a base when exploring the Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela.

The fact that the municipality of Guarda also attaches great importance to culture is demonstrated by the annual art event SIAC: Simpósio Internacional de Arte Contemporânea Cidade da Guarda. An event where many art forms are highlighted, workshops are organized and exhibitions are held. And the art form that interests me enormously is indeed street art;). Not surprisingly for those who have been following me for a while. Almost all the murals throughout city are affiliated with the SIAC arts event, supplemented by some random street art interventions I came across in the streets of Guarda.

I have pinned all my photographed murals on the Streetartcities map to make your street art hunt a bit easier:). Download the App: Google Play App Store or find the locations on the website
