Very soon the fourth edition (13 – 20 april) of the street art festival The Crystal Ship (Oostende, Be) will start with the theme The Dictatorship of Art, and indeed, I am curious how the artists will incorporate this theme into their creations :). The line-up looks awesome: Jaune returns to paint a wall along the casino, the Croatian artist Lonac always guarantees stunning creations, Mohamed L’Ghacham is world-class, as is Marina Capdevila. Other artists who will be present: Case Maclaim (DE), Crystal Wagner (USA), David Walker (UK), Helen Bur (UK), Leon Keer (NL), Miss Van (FR), Paolo Delfin (MX), Tom Herck (BE) en Wasted Rita (PT). Huge expectations!
The festival has not yet officially started, and yet there are already 2 (yes 2 :)! ) creations ready, created by the Spanish artist Escif. Escif, a Spanish muralist, born in Valencia, always guarantees simple figures who display political and economic messages. His works can be found mainly in and around his hometown of Valencia, and he is not the type of muralist who participates in as many street art festivals as possible, but he liked to make an exception for The Crystal Ship, given the many positive reviews of befriended artists.
